
France: new ASF prevention measures
With a decree issued in December 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture has extended the perimeter of the surveillance area established as part of the African swine fever (ASF) prevention measures.


With a decree issued in December 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture has extended the perimeter of the surveillance area established as part of the African swine fever (ASF) prevention measures.

The animal was discovered in zone I. This area has been completely closed off by fences since mid-July, 2019.

Information from the OIE indicates that there are a total of 392 outbreaks with 1,228,951 susceptible animals.

According to EU agricultural outlook 2019-30, meat consumption per capita in the EU has so far been on an upward trend.



A wild boar infected with ASF has been found in Greater Poland, the area with the highest pig population. According to data from the statistics service (GUS) in 2018, Greater Poland represents 36% of the country's total pig census.



There are already 20 confirmed cases of ASF in the Lubuskie voivodship, about 100 km from the German border.
