Political leaders in animal health from around the world met to discuss national action plans aimed at controlling the use of antimicrobials in order to address the global rise of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the animal farming sector.

The disease has been confirmed for the first time in the province of Yunnan, in the south of China.

The new province affected by the disease is Shanxi. Liaoning has declared 21 outbreaks, most of them on commercial farms.

The new outbreak is located halfway between the two regions previously affected by ASF, although it is not in direct contact with any of them.
