According to the information published by the Ministry of Agriculture of Colombia, in the last trimester of 2015, the GDP of the agriculture and stockbreeding sector grew by 4.8% in spite of facing the hardest El Niño phenomenon of the last years and of the effects on economy of factors such as the high value of the US dollar and the fall in the price of petrol. This result confirms this sector as one of the engines that supports the Colombian economy.
The agriculture and livestock sector lead the growth in the last three months of 2015, together with sectors such as construction (4.3%) and financial services, real-estate activities and services to companies (4.2 %), whilst the GDP grew by 3.5% in the 2015 consolidated total with respect to year 2014.
