A total of 59 pigs- 30 males and 29 females- underwent post-entry quarantine at Senasa's Lazareto Capital Quarantine Station. During their stay, blood samples were taken and analyzed in the laboratory and their health status was monitored.
Once the quarantine period was completed and after obtaining satisfactory results from the laboratory tests, the animals were transferred to various swine farms located in Santa Fe, Córdoba, Santiago del Estero, and Entre Ríos.
The health certificate agreed upon for the entry of pigs from Canada was achieved after years of negotiations, including an on-site audit carried out by Senasa professionals in 2017, during which the health guarantees offered by the Canadian veterinary service for compliance with the agreed protocol were verified.
This new entry, which complies with the sanitary requirements established by Senasa, especially for Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS), allows the incorporation of high quality genetics and represents a contribution to the improvement and strengthening of national pork production.
