Within the context of the livestock agenda 2025, the first meeting was held with representatives of the sector to present a work plan and the actions to promote the sales of pork.
The Subsecretary of Livestock, Mr. Rodrigo Troncoso, lead the first meeting of the Pork Exports Board, in which several organisations of the public and private sectors participated with the aim of drafting a work plan together that allows to progress in the opening of new markets for a production that doubled from 250,000 tonnes to 50,000 tonnes in the last 10 years.
The meeting meant the start of a work plan between the public and the private sectors to progress in the identification, prioritisation and opening of the markets of interest for pork and pork processed products. To this end, the situation of the main pork products, refrigerated and frozen pork, and pork offal exporting and importing countries was analysed.
Exports in 2016: Last year, the pork sector exported more than 6,000 tonnes with a value exceeding USD8 million. This meant a year-to-year growth by 21% in terms of net weight and by 44% in terms of value. Among the main countries where Argentinian pork is exported we highlight Russia, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Morocco and Egypt.
