Argentina: Significant increase in slaughter in first half of the year

Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, and Cordoba continue to account for more than 80% of the country's slaughter.

  • The total number of pigs slaughtered in the first half of the year was 3,938,813 head, an increase of 5.6% with respect to the same period of the previous year.
  • 80.2% of the animals slaughtered during the period were hogs.
  • The results by province indicate that Buenos Aires accounted for 50.4% of the slaughter, reaching 1,985,841 head, while Santa Fe and Córdoba accounted for 18.7% and 15.8%, respectively.
  • Specifically for the month of June, slaughter reached 670,880 head and represented an increase of 0.8% compared to the same month of 2022 and a decrease of 4.4% compared to May.
