Official communication on foreign corn sales:

After intense negotiations between the Argentine Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries and representatives of the Argentine Agribusiness Council (CAA), including representatives of Maizar, CIARA CEC (Chamber of Oil Industry in Argentina), and poultry productions, among others, in regards to the corn market situation in Argentina, agreements were reached between the different stakeholders in the agro-industrial chain of this raw material, and the commitment of the bidders was confirmed to supply the market with fluidity until the 20/21 season. This commitment was accepted by the demand sectors of the consumer food production chains.

Furthermore, the national government is concerned about the impact of the prices of this raw material on the different transformation chains that provide food for the Argentinean people.

In this sense, the CAA also expressed similar concerns, agreeing on a work schedule, starting January 12, in order to work on proposals to decouple international prices from domestic prices.

Considering that the national government made a commitment to guarantee the supply of corn to the different production chains, but that the conditions for access to this supply have yet to be resolved, in terms of quantity and price, and taking into account the CAA's agreement, it was decided to temporarily suspend the registration of Affidavits of Foreign Sale (DJVE) for corn.

However, during the period of analysis of the alternatives for achieving these objectives, while consensus is being reached, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, through the Undersecretariat of Markets, will monitor the availability for the domestic demand of corn for the 19/20 season. To this end, the affidavits of foreign sale for corn 19/20 will not exceed 30,000 tons per day.

Flint and NOP organic corn will be exempted from this requirement.
