The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, through the Department of Agricultural Markets, has reported that during the March - October 2019 period, exports of Argentine corn reached 36,504,719 tons, according to the register of Affidavits of Sale Abroad (DJVE), setting a new historical record for the country.

The impressiveness of the new export record is noted when we compare it to the previous (2016/17) record for the same period. A 69.7% increase is seen from the previous record of 21,512,000 tons.

Between March 1 and October 15, 27,346,952 tons of corn has already shipped from Argentine ports for export. This is compared to 19,358,458 tons shipped during 2017, the year of the previous record for the same period. A 41.3% increase is seen in recorded shipments compared to the previous record year.

This historic event takes place within the framework of two record productions of this grain, 49,500,000 tons in 2016/17 and 57,000,000 tons in 2018/19.

Excellent export prospects for Argentine corn are also projected for the next trade period 2019/20, since to date, export companies have recorded a total of 11,399,180 tons in sales, compared to 4,314,000 tons recorded at the same date for the 2018/19 period. Argentine corn, highly recognized for its quality, has reached 106 destinations so far, making it the world's third largest exporter of the product.
