Argentina expects to produce close to 40 million tons in the 2021/22 season. It is expected that 36.5 million tons will be processed, also considering soybean imports from neighboring countries. Thus, the processing industry represents the main focus of demand for domestic production.
The crushing plants are heavily concentrated in the Greater Rosario area, which accounts for nearly 80% of the country's total, making this region the most important oilseed industrial complex worldwide.
As for the means of transportation by which soybeans will enter the area, it is estimated that 86% of the merchandise will enter by truck, 13% by railroad, with the remaining 1% by barge through the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway. It is expected that 900,000 soybean trucks will be received for unloading in the Greater Rosario area, which would total 27 million tons of merchandise entering by this means alone.
Where is the origin of the soybeans that are arriving at Gran Rosario?
Between the provinces of Córdoba, Santa Fe, and Buenos Aires, 85% of the total soybeans received by Greater Rosario for crushing or for export as beans (to a lesser extent) are satisfied.
