The Agricultural Markets subdivision of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries reported that soybean processing for the month of August this year totaled 4,152,116 tons, reaching the second highest historical record for that month, only surpassed by August of 2015 with 4,270,805 tons.

For current trade during 2018/19, total soybean processing for the April/August 2019 period totaled 20,700,105 tons, compared to 16,753,055 tons for the same period the previous year, the average for that period over the 5 previous seasons being 19,738,134 tons.

We can see that soybean processing is not limited by the lack of available raw materials, considering a national soybean production estimated at 55.3 million tons.

It should be noted that this year 3,561,528 tons of soybeans have been temporarily imported, which was prohibited prior to 2016.

As of August 31, 5 million tons of soy beans, 12.7 million tons of soybean meal and 2.5 million tons of soybean oil have been exported.
