The northeast province of Buenos Aires is most affected by the drought, with second crop soybean area losses of close to 30% and minimum yields below 1 ton/ha.
Crop recovery has been better than expected. Yield losses have stabilized and damage has decreased. Variability is expected in first and second soybean hulls, with gaps ranging from 1.5 to 2 tons/ha. Recent rainfall has established a base for production: second crop soybeans would be around 1.4 tons/ha, while first crop soybeans would reach 2.5 tons/ha.

In the northwest of the province of Buenos Aires, before the rains, losses in second soybeans were estimated between 40% and 50%, but now they are projected between 20% and 30%, with the possibility of reaching an average yield of 2.2 tons/ha. In first crop soybeans, losses, which were estimated at 30-40%, have been reduced to 20%, with averages that could be between 3 and 3.3 tons/ha.
In northeastern Buenos Aires, the situation has also taken a positive turn. In some areas the crops are looking as if they had not gone through a drought. Even so, the number of nodes will be a limiting factor in first crop soybeans and yields would not exceed 2.8 tons/ha in the best case scenario.
Fifty percent of the core region received between 20 and 100 mm in the last week. Practically the entire core region received rainfall in the last week, although the highest accumulations were concentrated in the northern half.
