Argentina: sustained growth of the pig sector

The Minister of Agriculture, Stockbreeding and Fisheries of Argentina, Mr. Carlos Casamiquela, highlighted the sustained growth of the poultry and pig sectors since 2003 and up to now.

Pig meat production has increased by 164% in the last 10 years, going from 158 thousand tonnes in 2003 to 416 thousand tonnes in 2013. With respect to its consumption, an increase by 95% has been registered in the last 20 years, going from 5.3 kg/person/year in 2003 to 10.4 kg/person/year in 2013.
