Argentina: Pork imports up 40% through August

During the year, there has been a steady increase in the volume of imports; however, in August the volume of imported product decreased considerably.

According to Argentina's Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy, pork imports totaled 30,936 tons (t) between January and August, up 40.2% compared to the same period of 2021 (22,063 t) and valued at USD 84 million.

However, the month of August showed a 47% decrease in volume compared to the same month in 2021, going from 3,104 t to 1,646 t, while the variation was -25.1% compared to July (2,199 t).

So far this year, exports have fallen by 76.7%, totaling 6,063 tons from January to August and valued at US$6.6 million.
