ASF: Belgium will build an additional 15-km-long fence

Wild boars infected with the ASF virus have been found in Meix-devant-Virton.

After the detection of dead boar positive to ASF in the area of Meix-devant-Virton, a few kilometers away from the border with France, the Belgian authorities have decided to build a new additional 15-km-long fence in the area located between Florenville and Virton, that will join the already existing 30-km-long fence.

Number of infected wild boars

As of December 17th, of the 594 wild boars found, including the 499 in the infected perimeter, 205 corpses were positive to ASF.

Regarding the 186 wild boars shot down in the Improved Monitoring Area, and the 28 wild boars shot down in the Surveillance Area, all of them are negative to ASF.
