The national reference laboratory, the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI), has confirmed the presence of African swine fever (ASF) on a domestic pig farm located in the urban area of the free city of Cottbus in Brandenburg, within core zone 6, very close to the Saxon border. It is a small farm with 11 animals that have been slaughtered and culled.
In the state of Brandenburg, ASF was detected for the first time in domestic swine in July 2021 on three farms in the districts of Spree-Neiße and Märkisch-Oderland. In July 2022, another ASF outbreak was confirmed on a finishing pig farm in the district of Uckermark.
In addition, ASF has so far been detected in a total of 3,007 wild boars in Brandenburg.
