The National Veterinary and Food Safety Authority of Romania reported that as of July 10, African swine fever (ASF) was evolving in 28 counties with 261 outbreaks - 4 on commercial farms.
The number of cases is down from January of this year when 609 cases were active, but still up in comparison to the 55 active cases in June of 2019.
Since ASF was first reported in the country on July 31, 2017, 3,718 cases have been diagnosed in wild boars, and farmers have been compensated 441 million leu for their losses (approximately $104 million USD) to date.
