Denmark is about to finish the last stretch of the nearly 70 kilometres of fencing to prevent feral pigs from entering along the border between Denmark and Germany.
The 1.5 metre high steel fence is an important factor in the prevention of African swine fever in Denmark.
ASF has spread rapidly and the disease has recently been found in Polish feral pigs just 80 km from the German border.
In addition to the fence used to prevent the entry of feral pigs, new regulations have been put in place and those for reporting the risk of infection have been increased.
The Danish Nature Agency estimates that there are fewer than 40 feral pigs left in southern Jutland.
