To prevent the danger of Arican swine fever (ASF) spreading, Brandenburg is building a solid protective fence at the Polish border. The construction started last Thursday, September 24th in the Spree-Neisse district on the border with Saxony, specifically in Jerischke of the Neisse-Malxetal community. From there, the first section of about eleven kilometers will be built running north up to Federal Highway 15.
Secretary of State Heyer-Stuffer gave a reminder that the fence, despite being an effective measure, is not a cure-all since the disease can be spread over very long distances via human means.
