Saxony: Two more cases in wild boars

After the restriction zones were defined, the search for dead wild boars has been targeted and intensified since November 11, 2020 (fallen game search). The aim of the wild game search is to determine the extent of the actual infection process.

The Friedrich-Loeffler Institute detected ASF virus in two samples over the weekend. The findings were two skeletal remains that were in the immediate vicinity. The site is located in the municipality of Podrosche near the Polish border and approximately 8 km from the first outbreak in Pechern / Krauschwitz.

Brandenburg: Buffer zones expanded, third core area fenced

With the expansion of the disease-free buffer zone along the Oder river, the district of Märkisch-Oderland closes the corridor to Barnim, and the new buffer zone in the district of Uckermark joins above the district of Barnim. Thus, an area between Gartz (Oder) in the north and Jämlitz in the south of the country along the Oder river around 250 kilometers and thus almost over the entire border between Brandenburg and Poland is defined as an ASF restriction area. When the general decrees come into force, construction of a permanent fence on the German-Polish border along the Oder can also begin in these areas.

As of today, the core area in the Oder-Spree and Dahme-Spreewald districts around Friedland / Klein Briesen has been enclosed with a temporary fence.

There are now a total of 153 confirmed ASF cases in wild boar in the state of Brandenburg:

  • Spree-Neiße district 14
  • Oder-Spree district 122
  • Märkisch-Oderland district 17
  • Total for state of Brandenburg 153
