The wild boar was hunted and had no symptoms of the disease. It was routinely tested for African swine fever (ASF).

It was located near the Polish border in Upper Lusatia, Görlitz district.

Like Brandenburg, ASF regulation measures have come into force in Saxony. The authorities in Saxony must take all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the disease. This includes the establishment of areas with special protective measures.

With more ASF cases reported from Brandenburg, the total number of cases in Germany totals 117.

The domestic pig population in Germany is not yet affected and remains free of ASF.
