Last week, 13 new African swine fever (ASF) positive wild boar cases were confirmed in Frankfurt (Oder). Nine of them were located in the core area 1 (north of Oderwiesen) and the other four in the core area 2 (Buschmühlenweg).
To prevent the movement of infected wild boars, a new general order on animal diseases has come into force, which includes an absolute hunting ban in the entire city area (restriction zone II as well as core areas 1 and 2). In addition, the use of agricultural and forestry areas in the core areas is prohibited.
The mobile fences along the B112 will soon be replaced by permanent fences that meet wild boar control criteria. A permanent fence will also be constructed near the B87 to create a solid wild boar barrier to the west. Only when this barrier is completely closed can the hunting ban be lifted.
