After two years, African swine fever (ASF) is still active in the Spree-Neisse/Wokrejs Sprjewja-Nysa district.
Due to the recent detection of ASFV-infected wild boars in the areas of Türkendorf, Bloischdorf, and Weskow, the restricted zones I and II as well as the core area east of Spremberg/Grodk were extended and the surrounding white zone had to be updated. The districts of Groß Gaglow, Gallinchen, Kiekebusch, and Kahren are now also part of restricted zone II.
To prevent the westward movement of potentially infected wild boars, an electric fence has been erected along Federal Highway 97. This fence which was implemented as an immediate measure will be replaced by a permanent fence in the coming weeks.
