In its meeting on September 25, the State Crisis Team for Animal Disease Control (ASF) decided on the first exceptions to the ban on the use of agricultural and forestry land in the endangered area (the core area is excluded). The Ministry of Consumer Protection sent a corresponding decree to the veterinary offices of the affected districts of Oder-Spree, Spree-Neiße, and Dahme-Spreewald. This was announced by State Secretary for Consumers Anna Heyer-Stuffer, head of the state crisis team, in Potsdam.
On the basis of the African Swine Fever Ordinance, the use of agricultural and forestry land is temporarily prohibited in the entire infected area. The only exceptions to this so far are pastures.
With the decree, the veterinary and food control authorities will receive enforcement instructions to allow the use of agricultural and forestry areas uniformly and gradually. The criteria for this decision are: wild boars must not be startled, and under no circumstances must carcasses get into the harvested crop, so that the animal disease is not spread.
For this reason, agricultural and forestry areas must first be completely searched for dead or diseased wild boars by the authorities or persons working under official supervision.
Two new ASF cases confirmed by the Friedrich Loeffler Institute bring the total to 34 cases- all located within the core area.
