So far, the Swedish Veterinary Institute has confirmed 18 cases of African swine fever (ASF) in wild boar, all within a radius of 2 kilometers. It is expected that more carcasses will continue to be found in the area. The search for carcasses in the zone continues and this coming weekend extensive search efforts will be carried out in the outer parts of the zone. These will contribute important information to understand the spread of the infection.
At the same time as there are intensive search efforts in the zone, swine fever monitoring is also ongoing in the rest of the country. Monitoring is based on hunters and the public reporting dead wild boars they find to the Veterinary Institute.
