Since the emergence of the disease for the first time in Belgium last September 13th, 2018, there have been already 406 wild boars infected with African swine fever (ASF). All of them are located in the new area II, widened after the detection of two wild boars in area I, near the border with France.
As of January 29th, a total of 1,147 wild boars had been tested, 959 of them in the core and buffer areas, and 343 wild boars had been shot in the controlled surveillance area, 2 of them being positive, this causing the widening of the buffer and surveillance areas.
