In Sardinia, no positive cases of ASF virus have been reported in pigs (domestic, free-range, and wild boar) for over 14 months. Soon this trend will lead to disease-free status.

The Health Protection Agency (ATS) has conducted over 100,000 laboratory tests from January 1, 2019 to date, as part of the ASF eradication program. There have been no new positive cases of the virus since September 2018, and the last recorded presence of antibodies was in November 2019 in Baunei.
