The national reference laboratory, the Friedrich Loeffler Institute, has confirmed the presence of African swine fever (ASF) in a female wild boar that was shot north of Neupetershain (Nowe Wiki). The area in which the finding occurred is in the vicinity of the districts of Spree-Neisse and Saxony.
The district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz has initiated the necessary control measures. To determine the exact extent of the outbreak, carcasses are being searched for around the site of the case. In addition, an electric fence has begun to be erected.
So far, African swine fever has been detected in a total of 2,666 wild boars in Brandenburg (as of November 7, 2022):
- District of Spree-Neisse: 465
- District of Oder-Spree: 963
- District of Märkisch-Oderland: 358
- District of Dahme-Spreewald: 82
- Frankfurt (Oder): 638
- District of Barnim: 63
- District of Uckermark: 96
- Oberspreewald-Lausitz: 1
