The third ordinance from the Extraordinary Commissioner for African Swine Fever (ASF), Angelo Ferrari, was approved on May 17. It redefines the infected area and the border surveillance zone and specifies the safety measures to be applied in each.

To implement and verify these measures, a control body has been set up through a collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Health, the PPA Extraordinary Commissioner, the Prefecture of Rome, the Lazio Region, Rome Capital and the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital. The coordination of the control body is carried out by the Prefecture of Rome. Within thirty days from the entry into force of this ordinance, the control body will prepare a plan for the elimination of wild boars.

As of May 20, the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale Umbria e Marche (IZSUM) has reported 10 cases of ASF in wild boar.
