The German Ministry of Agriculture (BMEL) confirmed that as of January 3, 2020, ASF in Poland was present about 20-30 km from the German border.

Due to the growing threat of ASF, BMEL has not only been in contact with federal states, but also with the relevant Polish authorities.

On December 13, 2019, a meeting was held with official veterinarians of both countries during which it was agreed, among other things, that risk areas of at least 8 to 15 kilometers should be established on both sides of the border, and hunting should be carried out in these zones in such a way as to prevent wild boar movements from intensifying.
