Since 2015 Austria has been authorized to export frozen pork carcasses to China. Six Austrian meat establishments have been registered with China's General Administration of Customs. In 2023 around 5,000 tons of Austrian pork were shipped to China.
On February 29th, 2024, this protocol was extended to pork by-products. In the future, registered Austrian pork meat producers will be able to supply parts such as offal, feet, and heads, which are considered special delicacies in China.
