According to the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus in January 2014, 135,9 thous. tonnes of livestock and poultry (in live weight) were sold for slaughter by farms of all types, which is 2,6% less than in January 2013.
As at 1 February 2014 the cattle population in agricultural organisations numbered 4.2 million heads, showing a decrease of 0.4% on the same date of the previous year, the number of cows being 1.4 million heads (up 1.9%). The number of pigs was down by 17.1% to 2.7 million heads.
