The Belgian pig sector will remain recognized as a sector in crisis until April 2022, according to the answer given by Minister of Agriculture David Clarinval to a question from representative Leen Dierick. Until then, the sector will remain exempt from payments of contributions under the social status of the self-employed.
"The COVID crisis, African swine fever, and the accompanying export difficulties along with high energy and feed prices are severely affecting the earning model of our pig farmers..." stated Dierick.
