The Flemish government has allocated €3 million for the creation of a mobile team for the control of abattoirs, according to the statements of Mr Ben Weyts (N-VA), Regional Minister of Animal Welfare.

This team will be comprised of 25 people that will be able, as of May 2019 at the latest, to carry out unannounced inspections at any one time at the 70 abattoirs in the north of Belgium.
