The "Livestock Competence Network" ("Kompetenznetzwerk Nutztierhaltung", KNW), known as the Borchert Commission, has accepted the corresponding mandate of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and will continue to accompany the planned conversion of livestock farming.

However, in its decision, the network has stated that it is suspending its work for the time being and justifies this by saying that it will only make sense to continue "if the federal government decides on a long-term, contractually guaranteed, state-financed animal welfare premium".
