Brazil: Advisory Scientific Commission on animal products technology established

Their members come from universities, official laboratories, food technology institutes and research companies, as well as from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supplies.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supplies (MAPA) has published, in the Official Gazette (Diario Oficial, DOU), the Order no. 112, listing the members of the Advisory Scientific Commission on animal products technology. The commission shall submit decisions and provide technical and scientific elements, help technically with respect to the definition of criteria regarding processes, and draft proposals of guidelines that contribute to the improvement of the health and safety, and technological inspection of animal products.

According to the Director of the Department of Animal Products Inspection (DIPOA), Mr José Vargas, it is a consultative and permanent commission that will advise all the areas of the Department in aspects regarding animal products technology.

The Commission was created through the Order no. 1699 of August 1st.
