The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of agribusiness grew 5.26% in the first half of 2020 compared to the same period last year, according to the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA), and the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea).
*The production segment (on-farm) saw a cumulative increase of 14.91% from January to June, followed by services (4.76%) and inputs (1.69%). Agroindustry was the only segment with a decrease (-0.76%) for the period, being the segment most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The GDP of the livestock industry grew 10.41% from January to June, compared to the first half of 2019, reflecting favorable prices of animal protein.
In June, the agribusiness GDP grew 1.31%, the sixth month in a row, with monthly growth of 3.02% in the production segment and other links in the production chain in general: agribusiness (1.15%), inputs (0.79%) and agroindustrial (0.27%).
*The agricultural GDP saw a 2.93% increase in the first six months of this year, driven by production. Inputs and services also had a positive result, while agroindustry saw retraction.
