Brazil confirms CSF in Piauí

The Agriculture and Livestock Defence Agency of the State of Piauí has confirmed the first case of classical swine fever (CSF) in Piauí.

The government is implementing all the measures needed to eradicate the classical swine fever (CSF) outbreak. The measures include the control of the transport of animals, the epidemiological research in the surrounding properties and the culling of all the pigs affected by the outbreak.

The outbreak was located on an extensive farm with 13 pigs in which the death of 7 piglets and the presence of animals with weakness, a high fever and a partial paralysis of the rear limbs was confirmed. The case was diagnosed in the municipality of Lagoa do Piauí.
