The President of Brazil, Ms. Dilma Rousseff, authorized, last Friday, the Law 12.873, by means of which the Minister of Agriculture will be allowed to establish all the necessary veterinarian and agricultural measures for dealing with any kind of plant and animal health emergency.

Thanks to the new law, the Brazilian government will have more room for manoeuvre in case of emergencies related to plagues that affect agriculture or stockbreeding.
