According to data from Agrostat/MAPA, Brazil earned US$ 881 thousand from exporting purebred breeding pigs in 2024 from just three states: São Paulo, Paraná, and Minas Gerais. This represents an increase of 5.2% (US$ 43 thousand) compared to 2023. São Paulo led exports, with a 44% share of total revenue (US$ 385 thousand), followed by Paraná, with 37% (US$ 329 thousand), and Minas Gerais, with 19% (US$ 167 thousand).
Paraguay and Argentina were Brazil's main trading partners, with a 40.7% (US$ 358 thousand) and 40.2% (US$ 354 thousand) share, respectively. Uruguay and Bolivia also imported breeding pigs from Brazil, with shares of 17% (US$ 150 thousand) and 2.1% (US$ 19 thousand), respectively.

Paraná was the only state to export to all four purchasing countries, being the main supplier of Brazilian breeding pigs to Paraguay (53% or US$ 191 thousand), Uruguay (53% or US$ 79 thousand), and Bolivia (100% or US$ 19 thousand). São Paulo led exports to Argentina, with 89% (US$ 314 thousand), and was the second largest supplier to Uruguay (47% or US$ 70 thousand). Minas Gerais, on the other hand, exported exclusively to Paraguay (47% or US$ 167 thousand).
The data shows the high level of investment made by specialized farms in the genetic improvement of the national herd in 2024, as well as the growing appreciation of Brazilian breeding pigs on the international market.
