Brazil: important increase in pork exports

According to the ABPA's data, the Brazilian pork exports increased by 30.7% in August 2016 with respect to August 2015.

According to the ABPA's data, the Brazilian pork exports increased by 30.7% in August 2016 with respect to August 2015, reaching 65,500 tonnes.

So far this year, the increase reaches 40.5% in comparison with the first eight months of 2015, with 478,900 tonnes exported between January and August 2016.

Regarding the value of the exports, in August US$138.3 million were reached (+19.8% with respect to August 2015). Between January and August 2016, the amount was US$893.5 million (+8.1% with respect to the same period in 2015).

Russia, the main destination of the exports, imported some 159,300 tonnes between January and August (+4% with respect to the same period in 2015), followed by Hong Kong, that imported 111,100 tonnes in the first eight months of 2016 (+54% with respect to the same period in ​2015). China, that holds the third place, imported, in the same period, 63,400 tonnes. Chile, that has increased its imports by 200% in comparison with the same period in 2015 also stands out. Other important markets, such as Uruguay, Argentina and Singapore also showed a significant rise.
