According to what the Associação Brasileira de Proteína Animal (ABPA, Brazilian Association of Animal Protein) has published, during last April, a total of 42,623 tonnes of pig meat were exported for a value of US$118.66 million, which represents an increase by 19.66% in terms of volume and by 19.74% in terms of value with respect to April 2013.
So far this year, Brazil has exported 153,457 tonnes for a value of US$410 million, a decrease by 1.65% in terms of volume and by 1.85% in terms of revenue in comparison with the same period in 2013.
Russia was the main destination of the Brazilian pig meat, representing 30.63% of the exports in April, followed by Hong Kong, with 25.36%, and Angola, with 9.49% of the exports.
In April, the sales to Russia increased by 27.55% in terms of volume (13,056 tonnes) and by 51.27% in terms of value in comparison with April 2013. From January to April the increase of the shipments to Russia grew by 11.41% in terms of weight (47,031 tonnes) and by 26.76% in terms of value. The exports to Hong Kong in April grew by 12.23% in terms of volume (10,811 tonnes) and by 7.46% in terms of value in comparison with April 2013.
