Brazil increases pork imports to Russia

Brazilian pork exports to Russia reached 34,500 tonnes last July, a 51.1% more than in June and a 143.2% more than in July 2014.

The increase in Russian imports of fresh and processed pork has been crucial for Brazilian pork exports to Russia, which reached 34,500 tonnes last July, a 51.1% more than in June and a 143.2% more than in July 2014.

In terms of revenue, shipments to the Russian market totalled $108.3 M in July, an increase of 49.9% over the previous month and 59.6% compared to the same period last year.

As regards total exports (all products and destinations) in July, the increase was 50.2% over the same period last year, reaching 61,500 tonnes.

In July historical balance (the highest in the last five years), the sector reversed the losses accumulated during the year and shows now an increase of 2.6% in volumes shipped between January and July 2015, compared to the same period last year, a total of 290,700 tonnes exported.

Out of the total shipments from January to July, 45.9% —131,200 tonnes— were sold to Russia. Hong Kong, which ranked second, imported 62,100 tonnes (21.7%), followed by Angola with 20,600 tonnes (7.2%), Singapore with 16,100 tonnes (5.6%) and Uruguay with 11,600 tons (4.1 %).
