The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply's (MAPA) "K9" canine detection team will reinforce agricultural inspection at the Guarulhos (SP) and Galeão (RJ) airports during the second half of the year. Subsequently, other strategic points, such as ports and border posts, will be defined for placement of new canine teams.
The K9 team will also work, when needed, in the National Force of the Unified System of Agricultural Health Care (FN-Suasa), to implement measures for prevention, surveillance, assistance and control of situations of epidemiological risk and phytosanitary and zoosanitary disasters that threaten crops and livestock.
The objective of the canine team is to prevent the entry of African swine fever, among other diseases and plagues that can affect agribusinesses.
