Even with the adversities faced since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Brazilian pork production and exports should see growth and new records in 2021, according to projections by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).
Brazilian pork production should reach 4.7 million tons, a volume 6% higher than in the same period in 2020, with 4.4 million tons. If this prediction is correct, it will be a new production record for the Brazilian pork industry. Up to 3.6 million tons is expected to be destined for the domestic market, which is 5.5% more than in 2020, with 3.4 million tons. Per capita consumption should reach 16.90 kilos, 5% higher than in 2020, at 16.06 kilos. In the international market, pork exports could reach 1.15 million tons, up 12% from the 1.02 million tons exported in 2020.
