According to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), the Brazilian export sector surpassed the historical mark of 1.21 million tons in 2023. From January to November 2024, Brazilian pork shipments totaled 1.23 million tons, 11.2% above the volume exported from January to November 2023.
In the domestic market, performance was also positive for the sector's players. Marketing values of live pigs and pork reached the nominal maximums of Cepea's respective historical series. Cepea researchers indicate that the boost in values came from high domestic and foreign demands, the restricted supply of animals for slaughter, gains in the competitiveness of pork protein against beef in the domestic market, and higher prices in the sector, linked to the devaluation of the main inputs for pig farming, such as corn and soybean meal, allowing pig farmers to increase their profit margins.
