Brazil inaugurates special facilities for imported pigs to protect from PED

In order to protect the country from the dissemination of high-risk diseases with economic impact, Brasilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) will inaugurate special facilities for the quarantine of imported pigs.

The goal is to ensure the safety of the Brazilian swine herd, especially after the outbreak of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhoea (PED) in countries that regularly export live pigs for breeding to Brazil.

11-Apr-2014Carlos RomeroCarlos RomeroI am glad somebody somewhere in thinking and acting when it comes to avoidance the "accidental" entrance of pathogens that could decimate or Agriculture economy. What were our specific authorities doing when PEDV "sneaked" into the US?
