According to the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, in spite of the increase in the Brazilian meat exports in the last years, the estimates of the Ministry show that the main factor for the growth of this kind of production in Brazil will be the domestic market.
According to the data of a study carried out by the Strategic Management Office, it is expected that chicken consumption by Brazilians will imply, during the present year, the 68.3% of the total chicken production in the country, whilst the percentages for beef and pork will be 84.8% and 85.4%, respectively.
The domestic consumption forecasts for 2022/23 do not show significant changes, with a consumption of chicken, beef and pork of about 59%, 82.7% and 84%, respectively.
The expectations are that the national chicken production reaches 13.2 million tons and that it attains a maximum of 23.7 million tons in ten years. This entails a growth by 79.2%. In the case of cattle, the production of beef should rise from 8.4 million tons to 13.6 million tons (an increase by 61.5%), whilst pig production can rise from 3.3 million tons to 5.3 million tons of pork (+ 56.2%).
