Brazilian pork exports (considering all products, including fresh and processed) saw a 20.3% increase in February, reports the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). A total of 81,100 tons were exported last month, compared to 67,400 tons recorded during the same period in 2020.
The revenue from February sales totaled US$ 185.7 million, 19.9% higher in relation to the second month of 2020, with US$ 154.9 million.
In the first two months of the year, pork sales reached 144,200 tons, a volume 6.12% higher than the 135,900 tons obtained in the same period last year. The revenue for the first two months of 2021 totaled US$ 332.3 million, 4.1% higher than the same period last year, with US$ 319.1 million.
China, the main destination for Brazilian exports, imported 41,600 tons in February, a volume 34% higher than for the same period in 2020.
Sales to Chile, with 4,500 tons (+73.5%), Angola, with 3,400 tons (+7.4%), Singapore, with 3,300 thousand tons (+43.8%) and Argentina, with 2,000 tons (+15%) were also noteworthy.
By state, Santa Catarina remains the leading exporter, with 40,700 tons shipped in February (+16.3% compared to February 2020). In second place, Rio Grande do Sul exported 21,300 tons (+30%). In third place, Paraná shipped 11,300 tons (+22.4%).
