Forecasts by the National Supply Company (Conab) indicate that grain production in the 2021/22 harvest should reach 271.3 million tons, a new historical record. According to the ninth Grain Crop Survey, the volume represents an increase of 6.2% compared to the previous season, or about 15.8 million tons.
In the current season, what most stands out is the 32.3% recovery in corn production. With a stable production in the first cereal harvest, close to 24.8 million tons. The second cereal harvest tends to see an increase of approximately 45% from the previous cycle, going from 60.7 million tons to 88 million tons.
Corn exports should grow by 77.8% compared to the previous year, with an estimated 37 million tons. In the case of soybeans, sales to foreign markets are reduced, so the forecast for grain shipments was updated to 75.23 million tons.
