The grain harvest in the 2022/23 season has come to an end, reaching a new record. According to the XII Survey published on September 6 by the National Supply Company (Conab), production is estimated at 322.8 million tons (Mt). The volume represents an 18.4% increase, which corresponds to 50.1 Mt more harvested than in the previous season. The result reflects both a larger planted area, reaching 78.5 million hectares, and a better average yield, from 3656 kg/ha to 4111 kg/ha.
This season, soybean yields recovered in Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, and Santa Catarina. In Rio Grande do Sul, there was also an improvement in the performance of the crop, although it was limited by unfavorable weather conditions during growth. In view of the favorable scenario, soybean production in the country for the 2022/23 harvest set a new record, estimated at 154.6 Mt, an increase of 23.2%.
The largest crop ever recorded in the historical series is also expected. The total production from three harvests of the cereal should reach 131.9 Mt, an increase of 18.7 Mt over that obtained in the previous season. In the first harvest, production totaled 27.4 Mt, while for the second harvest, the forecast points to a volume of 102.2 Mt. According to the Crop Advance, released this week by the Company, about 89% of the sown area had already been harvested. For the third crop, the estimated production is 2.33 Mt.
